This is the 4 youngest puppies I kept as my own. To the left is peanut a brindle girl, she is 4 months old, next is the little 4 month old black girl, Pumpkin. Next is Thumbellina and Pearl the all white girl also 4 months old.
I lost two of them to a terrible fire. The fire started on October 22, 2020. It started due to a faulty switch on the water pump. It was a warm but very windy day. I didn't even know it was on fire. A passer by stopped and pounded on my door until I answered. He yelled your house is on fire.
I ran to get my son up out of bed. Then I opened the door and chased out all the dogs I could could find. I remembered I had 4 outside playing in the fenced yard. I couldn't get to them from the kitchen the smoke was to thick. But I got to them from the back door.
They was scared and hiding under the deck. I laid on my belly and stretched as far as I could and grabbed them by the legs and pulled them out. A broken leg was better than death. By the time I got them in my arms and back in the house the Police was there and helping get the animals out.
I also has 2 goats that ran into the house and I couldn't get out. Thankfully an Office did get them out unharmed. Due to my health I couldn't breath any longer and a policeman made me set in the Ambulance with oxygen until I could catch my breath and my blood pressure went down. I sat there about 15 minutes, they wouldn't let me leave. Finally I said I have to make sure my babies are okay.
I couldn't get back in the house because the smoke and fire was to much. However my Son Jon kept going back in to rescue all he could find. By now My daughter and myself was screaming at him to stop. The house was engulfed with fire. An officer stepped in and refused to let him go back in. It took 5 hours to get the fire out. I had no idea if we saved all our dogs or not. The dogs and puppies was spread all over, in my truck, in the barn in my daughters car and the neighbors garage.
I asked a firefighter if he seen any that was caught in the fire and didn't get out. Unfortunately there was. . I don't want to go into details now because it still breaks my heart and I can't stop crying when I think about it.
I lost 6 of my beautiful Furbabies and 5-1 week old puppies that day . Yes Pearl and Thumbellina was two that I lost.
I still have Peanut, my brindle girl and Pumpkin my black one. They still are partners in crime...The two are best buddies.
Nothing can take the place of the ones I lost. However it makes me appreciate and love my fur babies just that much more. I was taught they could be taken away from me in an instant. Give your babies an extra kiss and hug. You never know when it will be the last one.
Is a Pug Baby right for you?
